Picture being an elected Republican Precinct Committeeman, or candidate for elected office and thinking that your local political party supports the Constitution of the United States, and of the great State of Arizona, only to find out they give it lip service at best.
Elected precinct committeemen actually swear an oath to uphold and defend those constitutions, just like all other elected officials in Arizona, so it’s abhorrent that many in the Mohave County Republican Central Committee (MCRCC) are disingenuous at best when they utter those words.
I mean, the First Amendment is first for a reason, right? At least that’s what people say. But if you post or comment, say anything that MCRCC “leadership” arbitrarily finds offensive they can and will remove you from their official Facebook group, you constitutional rights be damned!
Take a close look at their “MCRCC Facebook Rules for Membership”, notice anything? Who knows what counts as “hate speech” or “bullying” these days, when everyone is so thinned skin that you can’t criticize someone without them needing a safe space, and US Attorney General is getting dog-piled on the social media platform X right now for apparently not understanding that the courts have ruled that “hate speech” is protected and she can’t punish it with the heavy hand of the Department of Justice.
No, look closer. What did they add on last? “Anti Zionist comments WILL result in a member’s removal.” That’s right, you can’t criticize a foreign government or oppose its’ expansion into surrounding countries such as Syria or Lebanon or you WILL (their emphasis, not ours) be removed from the public square, or perhaps more accurate to say that you won’t be allowed to play in their turd filled sandbox. If you are America First and MAGA not MIGA, then you have no right to voice that opinion to your fellow Republicans in civil discourse. Shame on them.
What would the late Charlie Kirk say about this? Well last year actually he said this in a post on his X account: “Hate speech does not exist legally in America. There’s ugly speech. There’s gross speech. There’s evil speech. And ALL of it is protected by the First Amendment. Keep America free.”
