Charity Spotlight With Munchkin the America First Pig

Oct. 15, 2025

Now that the weather is cooler, your favorite patriotic porcine celebrity is back out on the road, rooting around in the sandbox of Mohave County to bring you the charities that make this area great.

This month we feature the Kingman Area Veterans' Association (KAVA), a nonprofit that's got the backbone of a squad of Green Berets charging up Heartbreak Ridge. In a world gone hog-wild, KAVA stands tall like Old Glory on the 4th of July, reminding us that “America First” also means veterans first and no man or woman left behind.

KAVA was founded in 2023 by Maggie Stanley, US Army Veteran, with a mission to unite, uplift, and unleash the resources needed to keep our vets standing proud.

Roll call for all local vets, Uncle Sam wants you - to be in the 2025 Veteran's Day parade that is. This annual display of patriotism turns downtown Kingman into a sea of stars and stripes. This year the parade will be on November 8th at 10 a.m. The parade route is on Beale St. between 5th and 1st St., and celebrates 250 Years of Service for veterans and active service members. Anyone interested in participating can visit the KAVA website at: www.kavaaz.com

But KAVA doesn't holster after November 11th, these patriots are year-round warriors, partnering with other veterans organizations. KAVA's the foxhole buddy every vet needs.

Join KAVA in making a difference for the many veterans of the Kingman area. Donate, volunteer, or just attend the parade and show your support.

Until next month, keep it America First and remember: A pig like me, whose daddy is a Vietnam War Air Force veteran, knows a thing or two about gratitude. And I'm no "war pig", so in this modern era of endless and pointless taxpayer funded bloody conflicts let's pay it forward for those who sacrificed for us!
