Charity Spotlight With Munchkin the America First Pig

Nov. 15, 2025

Keeping Western Heritage Alive in Kingman. The Kingsmen of Route 66, Inc. are doubling down on their commitment to Kingman’s Western roots and community spirit. The organization recently signed a three-year lease for the arena area at the Mohave County Fairgrounds, securing a space that will allow them to host more local events and activities year-round.

“It gives us the ability to plan ahead and build on the momentum we’ve created with events that bring our community together.”said a Kingsmen spokesperson.

That momentum is already showing results. This year alone, proceeds from Kingsmen events have helped fund two scholarships for students pursuing careers in animal care. The group also served as a Gold Sponsor for the Friends of the Mohave County Animal Shelter, helping the organization provide low-cost adoptions and essential medical procedures for local animals in need.

Their generosity has extended beyond the arena as well. The Kingsmen recently sponsored the Youth Worship Room at New Life Church, supporting a group of young community members active in ranching and the Kingman Junior Rodeo. And when tragedy struck a local family who lost their daughter in a horse-related accident, the Kingsmen organized a fundraising barrel race to help provide support and comfort in their time of need.

While the Kingsmen are not directly affiliated with 4-H, many 4-H participants take part in equestrian events held within the Kingsmen’s leased arena, further strengthening ties between local organizations.

Looking ahead, the Kingsmen are partnering with community-minded sponsors like GEO Group and Star Nursery to make meaningful improvements to the arena grounds. Plans include repairing stalls, enhancing the arena’s appearance, and ensuring that travelers and participants have a safe, comfortable place to board their animals during events or while passing through town.

“We want this space to reflect the pride Kingman has in its Western heritage,” the spokesperson added. “It’s about creating a place where families, competitors, and visitors all feel welcome.”

The Kingsmen are also inviting public feedback on future events—ideas like breakaway roping, team roping, and sorting competitions are already on the table. Their goal is simple: to keep the Western way of life alive and thriving in Kingman while expanding opportunities for locals to participate and enjoy.

Right now, the group is hosting a six-month Barrel Race and Gymkhana Series running through March, with sign-ups available at saddlebook.com
