The Patriot’s Corner: Why Cancel Any Coins? & More AZGOP Politics

Facts Don't Lie but Politicians Do

The facts broken down over the lifespan of US coins are much different than the number some are using to warrant the cancellation of the penny, so why not just tell us the truth to start with, well as usual it’s just another way to make something an issue which truly isn’t one.

Here's a breakdown of the approximate cost to produce each circulating U.S. coin in fiscal year 2024. Source: U.S. Mint:

• Penny: Approximately 3.69 cents.
• Nickel: Approximately 13.78 cents.
• Dime (10: Approximately 5.76 cents.
• Quarter: Approximately 14.68 cents.
• Half Dollar: Approximately 33.97 cents

Length in Circulation Break Down to True Costs

Coins typically last around 25-30 years in circulation before they become too worn for use. Unlike paper money, coins are generally not removed from circulation for fitness. When coins reach the end of their lifespan, they are removed by the Federal Reserve and recycled by the U.S.

Penny Real Cost: 0.123
Nickel Real Cost: 0.459
Dime Real Cost: 0.45933333333333333
Quarter Real Cost: 0.4833333333333333
Half Dollar Real Cost: 0.48933333333333

Once again our government isn’t as truthful as they need to be nor is the press, as the Initial number is meant to make it sound like it’s reasonable to cancel the penny, that is until you break down the cost over the lifespan of the coins then it isn't reasonable to cancel any of our coins and just gives politicians something to talk about and the news something to make an issue of rather than report what’s truly going on in our government on a budget that’s still not reducing spending because politicians are more concerned with being re-elected than in serving the citizens they say they want to serve. This alone is reason enough not to re-elect them to office, as they truly aren’t cutting spending.

I know most may not believe this is a real issue, however if someone will lie to us about something as small as a penny then what else are they lying about? And I’d say quite a lot as I found out when I had my Talk Show for over 13yrs, when I’d dig into their records vs. rhetoric used to get re-elected or promoted. Beware of those in AZ's 2026 Primary as it's already started with ads and news about one AZ Statewide Race for the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and this brings AZ’s 2026 election cycle’s primary now has one GOP challenger running against an incumbent office holder. Tom Horn AZ’s Supt. Of Public Instruction being challenged by outgoing AZ Treasurer, Kimberly Yee challenging Horn.

Yee's record while in the AZ Senate serving on the Education Committee and how they voted against the people but for the Gov. even after being told by dozens of AZ voters that the vote in favor of the bill violated AZ’s Constitution. However Yee followed the marching orders of GOP leaders and voted for it anyway along with the rest of the Ed Committee, and later in a midnight session after it was put in a reconciliation bill which also violated the AZ Constitution, but no matter they still did it.

When I sat down to show just the coin issue it suddenly turned into the way those in office at all levels of federal & AZ Government value a position more the those they say they want to serve, as this is the 2nd time the Party put up someone to run against Horn for re-election in a primary, as they did this to him in 2014 for AG as well, and funded another handpicked GOP candidate against Horn as he wouldn’t bend to the will of politicians but truly served the people, and for them this is an unforgivable sin, so hope you do your homework before voting out Horn as he truly cares about our kids and not just holding office and the promises he's made. He's kept to us not the party bosses.
